Amelia

Forest Gate School

‘School was different in comparison to what I thought it would be’ says Amelia, who began her first year at FGCS during a pandemic. Being in a new school and trying to figure out new rules during such an usual time was ‘weird’, but she praises the teachers around her for supporting her. From dancing during assemblies to being there to listen, she praises how the school ‘helped us because during mentoring we talked about mental health a lot’ and provided an outlet for her and her peers to discuss difficult feelings and emotions.

As she transitions into her GCSE preparation, Amelia looks forward to finally being able to take part in school trips and preparing for her GCSE exams: ‘if you [remember] that they aren’t as bad as they seem, it stops you from stressing’ she says, smiling and making her way to her next lesson.
