Jon Datta

Jon Datta is Head of University Access Programmes, Student Digital Strategy and University Sector Engagement at the Sutton Trust, where he leads national programmes supporting disadvantaged young people and works with universities, government and sector organisations to inform education policy and practice.

Jon began his career as a secondary school mathematics teacher before moving into school improvement and educational leadership, including serving as Director of School Improvement. He subsequently became Deputy Head of Widening Participation at the University of Cambridge.

Alongside his professional roles, Jon has extensive experience of governance, having previously served as Chair of Governors at Coleridge Community College in Cambridge and as a Trustee of Cambridgeshire Community Foundation. He brings experience across schools, higher education and national education policy with a firm commitment to improving educational opportunities and outcomes for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.
